CCCA president Charles Akben-Marchand moving on
Charles Akben-Marchand, who many people know as @Centretowner on Twitter, is stepping down as head of the Centretown Citizens Community Association to work for Somerset Ward councillor Diane Holmes.
Akben-Marchand made the announcement to supporters and community members early Thursday morning:
Dear CCCA members and followers,
I am writing to let you know that I will soon be taking on a position
at City Hall working in Councillor Holmes' office. This continues a
decades-long tradition of community-based representation of Centretown
at City Hall. In order to do things by the book, I must resign as
President of the CCCA before taking on this new role.
Akben-Marchand says he'll still be involved with community initiatives like the Rescue Bronson Avenue campaign. And though it's not mentioned in the email, we're pretty sure he'll continue to blog over at Images of Centretown, a great resource for anyone interested in Centretown's past and present.
CCCA vice-president Jordan Charbonneau will cover Akben-Marchand's duties until the association's Oct. 25 meeting, when they elect a new president.
