It's Ottawahenge, take two!
Mother Nature sure decided to mess up our Ottawahenge contest, blanketing the city's downtown core with overcast skies for most of the past two weeks. No matter, however: we've got both astronomy and a desperate need to give away $75 on our side. And together, we're going to make this contest a reality.

We've decided to extend the contest until midnight on Jan. 13, 2012. Why so far in advance? Because while the sun has passed the point where it sets in perfect alignment with the downtown street grid—at least, according to The Photographer's Ephemeris—it will gradually return to that picture-perfect position after the winter solstice. Here's where the sun will be setting on Jan. 10:
Almost right down the middle of Albert Street, it appears. So if you missed the stunning biannual phenomenon the first time around, keep your camera ready and your fingers crossed that the skies stay clear. And you can send any photos to trevor [at] openfile [dot] ca.
