Stay strong, Ottawa robot enthusiasts
Canada's national robot games, set to take place this weekend in Toronto, were cancelled due to a decrease in interest. This CBC article features Aaron Ramsey, head of the Ottawa Robotic Enthusiasts Club, and his family of robot designers voicing their disappointment at the cancellation.
Luckily, robot aficionados still have some options if they'd like to design and compete here in Ottawa:
- The Ottawa Robotic Enthusiasts is a free club open to the public. Their blog has a recap of the Canadian National Robot Games/Ottawa Robotic Enthusiasts competition that took place last summer.
- The IEEE Ottawa Robotics Competition lets students in grades 5 and 12 design robots and compete annually, and is hosted by the Institute of Electronics and Electronics Engineers.
- ARISE Innovations Lab is where interested University of Ottawa students design and research robot technology.
- Carleton University has their own Carleton University Robotics Club.
