Earlier today, the city unveiled its new designs for Lansdowne Park. City staff wanted to make sure the designs weren't leaked early, with security guards keeping watch outside council chambers during a closed session Monday afternoon.
Presenters at Tuseday's technical briefing included some of the architects and designers who will be working on the project, assuming two legal challenges by groups opposed to the city's plans don't interfere with the redevelopment.
In a statement, Mayor Jim Watson called the designs part of an "exciting and innovative vision" for Lansdowne, which has been city-owned land since 1898. Capital councillor David Chernushenko has indicated that there will be a public information session on the new designs within the next two weeks.
According to the CBC, the revised redevelopment project will have three times as much green space as was previously expected. That includes 880 trees.
